Unit 1: Introduction to Retail Cashiering
After completing this unit, learners will understand the overview of the retail industry and the critical role a cashier plays within it. They will become familiar with Point of Sale (POS) systems, develop basic knowledge of product items and pricing, and appreciate the importance of accuracy and efficiency in billing. Learners will also understand the significance of maintaining a clean and organized cashier area for smooth and professional operations.

Unit 2: Billing & Payment Processing
After completing this unit, learners will be able to process billing transactions accurately using a POS system, handle multiple types of payments including cash, card, UPI, and digital wallets, apply discounts and promotional offers correctly, generate bills and invoices, and manage basic digital transactions and receipts. After completing this unit, learners will be able to handle cash accurately and responsibly during retail transactions, manage cash registers and floats effectively, follow correct opening and closing procedures for the billing counter, identify counterfeit currency confidently, and apply safe cash storage practices. After completing this unit, learners will be able to apply basic mathematical skills accurately in daily cashiering tasks, reconcile cash and digital payment records with POS system totals, complete daily cash tallying and reporting, identify and resolve discrepancies professionally, and maintain organized and accurate transaction records. After completing this unit, learners will be able to interact with customers politely and professionally, communicate clearly and effectively in all retail situations, handle customer queries and complaints with confidence, manage difficult customers calmly without escalating situations, and consistently create a positive customer experience at the billing counter. Learners will understand that excellent customer service is as important as billing accuracy in making a cashier truly effective.
